Four Mountaineers popped for pot possession

Hopefully one of these days this type of “narcotic” will be legalized across the board and we won’t have to deal with posts like these, but it’s not so here we are.

And where we are specifically is West Virginia, with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporting that four Mountaineer football players were cited Tuesday night for possession of marijuana. The foursome -- offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste, linebacker Jaleel Fields, safety Dravon Henry (pictured) and linebacker Xavier Preston -- were cited by university police at an on-campus residence hall.

How the incident went down wasn’t detailed.

Head coach Dana Holgorsen is aware of the incident, saying in a statement that “the matter will be handled internally.” According to the Post-Gazette, the citation itself will result in the players, all of whom are listed as either sophomores or redshirt freshmen on the team’s official roster, being placed on probation and required to pay court costs.

Henry is one of the top young defensive backs in the Big 12, starting all 13 games as a true freshman in 2014. His two interceptions were third on the team.

Preston played in nine games while the other two both took redshirts for their true freshman seasons.
