One week after officially losing an assistant to the NFL, Oklahoma has reportedly turned to a long-time NFL assistant to fill that hole on Bob Stoops’ coaching staff.
According to multiple media outlets, including FootballScoop.com and FOXSports.com‘s Bruce Feldman, Stanford staffer Diron Reynolds is set to become OU’s defensive line coach. Feldman added that Reynolds met with the Sooner staff earlier this week.
Reynolds will replace Jerry Montgomery, who left last week for a position with the Green Bay Packers.
Reynolds spent the 2014 as a defensive assistant at Stanford. Prior to that, his last jobs at the collegiate level came as the defensive tackles coach at Indiana (2001) and the outside linebackers coach at Wake Forest (1999-2000).
In between college jobs, Reynolds spent 11 seasons as an assistant in the NFL. Stops at that level included the Indianapolis Colts (2002-06), Miami Dolphins (2007) and Minnesota Vikings (2009-13.

UPDATED 3:33 p.m. ET: In a press release, Oklahoma confirmed the addition of Diron Reynolds as defensive line coach.
“Diron is a great fit for our staff with his knowledge and ability to instruct the fundamentals we’ve been using in our defensive system,” said OU head coach Bob Stoops in a statement. “He’s an excellent teacher who learned from respected coaches on both the college and NFL level”
