And now we know a little bit more of the rest of the story.
Earlier this week it was reported that Michigan State wide receiver Macgarrett Kings Jr. was arrested last weekend and charged with drunken and disorderly conduct and obstructing, resisting, hindering or assaulting a police officer. No details of what led to either charges were released... until now.
According to mlive.com, a kick to an East Lansing Parking and Code Enforcement truck by Kings preceded the receiver’s encounter with police.
“He kicked one of the Parking and Code Enforcement trucks traveling through the area and, when police contacted him, he did resist arrest,” PACE Lt. Steve Gonzalez said, adding that there was no major damage to the vehicle in question.
This marked Kings’ second arrest in less than year, the first of which was for being “super-drunk.” The first encounter earned Kings a suspension for spring practice; it doesn’t appear, at least based on the statement from Mark Dantonio, that will be the case this time around.
“We’re aware of the incident,” the head coach wrote. “All of our student-athletes are held to a high standard, and individuals will be held accountable for their actions. We will manage this situation internally.”
Provided he stops going Bruce Lee on vehicles, Kings is expected to play a significant role in the Spartans’ passing attack this season.
