Army down an assistant as RBs coach reportedly leaves

With the start of spring practice less than a week away, Jeff Monken suddenly finds himself with a vacancy on his Army coaching staff.

According to Sal Interdonato of HudsonValley.com, running backs coach Lamont Seward is no longer on staff at the military academy. The nature of his departure, including whether he left for another position, is unknown.

Seward, who is still listed on the team’s official website roster of coaches and football personnel, had spent just one season with the Black Knights. Prior to that, he worked for Monken at Georgia Southern from 2010-13 when the latter was the FCS school’s head coach.

The job at Army was his first at the FBS level.

The Black Knights, incidentally, will begin spring practice next Thursday, March 12.
