J.T. Barrett thinks Braxton Miller transfer talk is ridiculous

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett talks to Braxton Miller on a daily basis, and he wants everybody to know the idea of Miller possibly transferring away from Ohio State is probably not worth spending much time discussing.

“I’m not Braxton, but being that I do talk to him every day, I think that would be something me and you both be shocked if he was to leave. I think it’s ridiculous honestly,” Barrett said Thursday, as Ohio State’s quarterbacks were made available to the media for the first time this spring. “Some of the things talking about Braxton leaving Ohio State, I think that’s really silly.”

Miller is entering his senior year at Ohio State and is hoping to come back after missing Ohio State’s 2014 championship season due to a preseason shoulder surgery. Miller returned to the practice field with his teammates this week, although he was noticeably limited in throwing drills compared to his teammates Barrett and Cardale Jones. Miller has hinted previously he intends to be back in Columbus this season. Head coach Urban Meyer said this week he has not had any discussion with Miller about moving him to another position, which means the quarterback competition will be given a chance to play itself out between Miller, Barrett and Jones.

Fortunately, by all accounts, the competition and complicated quarterback situation has not caused a rift among the three players involved. Not according to Jones at least.

"(It’s) stronger,” Jones said. “We’re still really close. We still kid around, we still hang out together. So this situation has not affected our relationship.”

How long can Ohio State keep everybody happy? This remains the big question. Winning helps, there is no mistake about that. Spring also provides a slightly less intense environment, at least compared to the summer and fall when practices become more pressurized.

Everything seems to be happy-go-lucky at Ohio State for now.
