Michigan starting center Jack Miller will not play for Wolverines in 2015

Michigan may be getting ready to add a quarterback to the roster, but the Wolverines lost a returning starter on the offensive line for the 2015 season. Center Jack Miller, a fifth-year senior, has decided to leave the program and will not play in Ann Arbor.

The surprise decision seems to have come out of nowhere and was made after just a handful of spring football practices in Ann Arbor. Miller started all 12 games for Michigan in 2014 and was a lock to anchor the middle of the offensive line once again in 2015. Last year saw Miller win Michigan’s Hugh R. Rader Memorial Award, which is awarded to the school’s top offensive lineman.

While there is no word on whether he will transfer to another program, he would be eligible to play right away in the fall if he chose to do so at another FBS program.

Patrick Kugler, a redshirt sophomore, was sitting behind Miller on the depth chart at center at the end of last season, so he would seem to be the most likely candidate to replace Miller on the line.
