Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones just led Ohio State on a magical postseason run with victories in the Big Ten Championship Game against Wisconsin, Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and Oregon in the College Football Playoff national championship game. Of course, even with that storybook postseason success, Jones still receives pop shots about a silly tweet he published a few years ago. Today, Jones officially came full circle on that moment, and now it is time for us all to move on as well.
In October 2012, Jones took to Twitter to vent about school, asking “Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL?” The next phrase has followed him ever since. He wrote “we ain’t come here to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS.” Today, participating in the weekly ritual that is Throwback Thursday on Twitter, Jones shared an image of that infamous tweet and laughed it off.

Jones followed that tweet with a few other messages saying nothing is more important than education. Jones also commented to say those who tweet something about coming to play school are quick to be blocked by the Buckeyes quarterback. I don’t blame him.
Jokes were made by some after Jones announced his decision to come back to Ohio State for another season following Ohio State’s title run. If that was not enough to put those jokes to rest, perhaps seeing him look back at that moment three years ago will do the trick. Jones has grown and matured in the three years since that moment of immaturity shared online. Now that he has officially moved on from that moment, maybe now everyone else can do the same.
