Report: Ohio State offensive line recruit focusing on academic issue before enrolling

Before his career can start as an Ohio State Buckeye, one offensive lineman still needs to get his academic standing in order before joining the program. Tim May of The Columbus Dispatch reports Mirko Jurkovic Jr. will not be among the newest Buckeyes to enroll this weekend. Though the specifics of the holdup in his enrollment are not reported, it is an academic issue that needs to be taken care of, per the report.

Jurkovic was a three-star recruit in Ohio State’s Class of 2015 out of IMG Academy in Florida. Though he is not with the Buckeyes this summer, he can still be there in the fall. However, by then most of the work in preparing for the upcoming season will be done and Jurkovic may very likely have to wait until 2016 to have a chance to see the playing field in Columbus.

This is not the first issue to prevent a player from enrolling at Ohio State. A couple of months ago Jamel Dean was not medically cleared by Ohio State’s medical staff, which prevented him from enrolling. Dean has since landed at Auburn, where he surely will have a chip on his shoulder.
