‘Couple of schools’ interested in transferring Miami DT Corey King

Another post, another story of a player bolting his current team shortly before the start of training camp.

The latest to see attrition hit its roster is Miami, with the high school coach of Corey King confirming to the Orlando Sentinel that his former player has decided to leave the Hurricanes. No reason was given for King’s impending departure.

It should be noted that The U has yet to officially address King’s status with the team moving forward.

“He is transferring and I have spoken to a couple of schools that have inquired about him,” West Boca High School football coach Alphonso “Junior” Moran told the Sentinel. “He’s a strong player and was very capable at UM, it was just injuries and coaching changes. They were timing things that limited his production. I think he can make an impact from the start.”

Just who those schools are that have an interest in the transfer is unclear.

A two-star member of UM’s 2011 recruiting class, King took a redshirt as a true freshman. He played in a total of 12 games, including one start, in 2012 and 2013, but did not play a single down in 2014.

King is leaving, though, with no hard feelings.

It showed me how to be a man,” King, speaking to the Palm Beach Post in a separate interview, said of his time at Miami. “You grow up fast, you meet a lot of people. It was a great experience.”
