Les Miles successfully filibustered for a significant amount of his allotted time at Day 4 of the SEC Media Days, but he did drop a couple of nuggets in the limited Q&A session with the assembled media.
Quarterback Anthony Jennings, expected to once again compete with Brandon Harris for the starting job, was one of three LSU players arrested in the middle of last month for unauthorized entry of an inhabited building. Jennings and his two teammates, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain and defensive back Dwayne Thomas, were indefinitely suspended as a result of the arrest.
While the status of all three remains the same, Miles stated Thursday that he expects the trio to be back soon as their charges are approaching a “resolution.” In fact, all three should be cleared by the time summer camp rolls around the beginning of next month.
While Jennings has been suspended and is not a participant in summer workouts, Harris has been, and seemingly benefited from the additional workload. “The extra throws have helped Brandon this summer,” Miles stated, intimating that Harris could very well be the leader heading into summer camp.
Trey Lealaimatafao was arrested the same day as the other three in a separate incident, and was ultimately dismissed from the football program. During his stint at the podium, Miles also took the time to address Lealaimatafao’s situation… sort of.
Les being Les being Les, as always.
Finally, Miles confirmed that Derrius Guice is no longer hospitalized, and that he will go visit him when he gets back to Baton Rouge later today. Guice, a five-star member of LSU’s 2015 recruiting class, was taken to a hospital via ambulance Wednesday evening following a “health event”that occurred during a workout at the team’s practice facility.
