Last week, Miami and its new apparel partner adidas made certain everyone knew that new uniforms for the football Hurricanes were in the offing. Late Saturday night, those new duds were unveiled at a South Beach nightclub and... they’re actually not bad. At all.
In fact, they’re not drastically different from uniforms of the recent past, with a few new tweaks but many of the same uniform elements to which The U fans have become accustomed.
“We wanted to go clean, bold and keep very much of the DNA of what Miami is,” Mark Daniels, vice president of team sports for adidas, said according to the Orlando Sentinel. “It’s not 180 degrees different from the past. … When you take a look at the heritage and what makes them the Hurricanes, you’re talking about Miami. That’s why you see it boldly displayed on the jersey. … Those were elements that had to be part of the recipe.”
The Sentinel went on to write that “adidas officials worked not only with Miami’s administration and coaching staff during the design process, but included several members of the football team -- among them Hurricanes sophomore quarterback Brad Kaaya -- in the collaboration.”
The first game in which the new uniforms will see the field will be Sept. 5 against Bethune-Cookman
