Pitt’s Rori Blair charged with DUI after being clocked doing 117 mph

There’s dangerous, and then there’s what Pittsburgh’s Rori Blair is accused of doing.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Blair was charged March 15 with, among other things, driving under the influence. Blair was stopped by a Pennsylvania state trooper after he was clocked traveling at 117 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Following the stop, the criminal complaint read, the trooper “detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from his breath and about his person as he spoke along with blood-shot glassy eyes.” A subsequent blood test confirmed the presence of marijuana in the defensive end’s system.

In addition to the DUI, Blair was charged with driving at an unsafe speed as well as other traffic violations.

The school told the Post-Gazette that the football program had no immediate comment on the development. Earlier today at the ACC Kickoff event, first-year head coach Pat Narduzzi confirmed that star wide receiver Tyler Boyd, charged with DUI last month, had been suspended but is now reinstated; the punishment for Blair is expected to be similar to that of Boyd’s.

Blair, who overcame a stroke suffered his junior year of high school, played in 12 games as a true freshman last season. He started two of those contests.
