Mark Hudspeth dismisses a pair of Ragin’ Cajuns

A pair of Louisiana-Lafayette football players who entered the summer as Ragin’ Cajuns won’t be able to say the same thing exiting it.

Mark Hudspeth, the Baton Rouge Advocate reports, has confirmed that wide receiver C.J. Bates and defensive end Marquis White have been dismissed from his football program. Other than the standard “violating unspecified team rules,” the head coach declined to give a reason or reasons behind the twin dismissals, saying only that "[w]e felt it was in the best interest of our program to part ways.”

“We wish them well in their future endeavors,” Hudspeth added.

Bates, who transferred to L-L from the JUCO ranks last year, played in 13 games during his one and only season with the squad. He accounted for 12 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

Injuries helped limit White to nine games last season, but he did manage a pair of sacks. A starter entering the 2014 season, White had tumbled off the two-deep depth chart released prior to the start of summer camp.
