On Sunday we learned Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood had suspended wide receiver Leonte Carroo. On Monday we learned why he was suspended: he was charged with simple assault for a domestic violence incident. Finally, on Tuesday we learned why he was arrested. And it isn’t pretty.
According to the Bergen Record, Carroo picked up “a woman with whom he had been romantically involved” and slammed her into the concrete surrounding Rutgers’ football facilities. Specifically, Carroo is accused of “picking her up and slamming her down on a concrete surface, injuring her left hip, both palms, left elbow and left side of the head.”
Carroo has since been released on $1,000 bail. He remains suspended from the Scarlet Knights’ football program.
Carroo placed second in the Big Ten a year ago with 1,086 receiving yards and posted seven grabs for 181 yards with three touchdowns this season.
