Stanford leads No. 6 USC at the half, 24-21

Good Kevin Hogan has led to a really good first half between Stanford and No. 6 USC.

Hogan completed 13 of 17 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, including a 17-yard strike to Devin Cajuste with three seconds before halftime to stake Stanford to a 24-21 lead at the L.A. Coliseum.

The Trojans led 14-7 after the first quarter and 21-10 midway through the second quarter, but the Cardinal - who struggled mightily to move the ball at Northwestern two weeks ago - marched 162 yards in 17 plays on its last two possessions to take the lead. Stanford has gained 322 yards in the first half to USC’s 279.

Cody Kessler connected on 10-of-12 throws for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and Tre Madden added nine rushes for 64 yards and a score. JuJu Smith-Schuster notched three grabs for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Stanford will receive to open the second half.
