It hasn’t been the ass-kicking Kliff Kingsbury predicted, but No. 14 Texas A&M leads Arkansas 10-7 at the midway point at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Arkansas struck first with a vintage, methodical 11-play, 86-yard slog that consumed more than seven minutes and culminated in a 17-yard pass from Brandon Allen to Drew Morgan. Texas A&M answered in its own typical fashion – slashing through the Razorbacks’ defense to move 98 yards in only four plays as Kyle Allen hit Jeremy Tabuyo for seven yards, Ricky Seals-Jones for 11, Josh Reynolds for 36 and true freshman Christian Kirk for 44 and the touchdown.
Kirk then set up the Aggies’ go-ahead score by dashing 86 yards on back-to-back receptions, moving the ball from Texas A&M’s seven-yard line to the Razorbacks’ 7. He has three grabs for 130 yards and a score on the day. Allen has completed 9-of-12 throws for 198 yards; the Aggies have run only four times for nine yards.
Arkansas, meanwhile, has rushed for 92 yards, while Allen has added 136 yards on 15-of-17 passing. The Hogs own a nearly 4-to-1 time of possession advantage.
Texas A&M will receive to open the second half.
