Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez said this morning during an interview Scooby Wright will play tonight when the Wildcats host UCLA in Tucson. Wright was said to be a game-time decision earlier this week after sustaining a torn meniscus in a season-opening victory over UT-San Antonio in Week 1.
During an on-set interview on ESPN’s College GameDay this morning, Rodriguez confirmed Wright has practiced this week, which led him to say his best defensive player will play tonight. What role Wright will take on was not announced, so it is unknown if he will start or play a limited role. Regardless, Arizona being able to get anything out of one of the best defensive players tonight in a pivotal Pac-12 South Division game is positive news for the Wildcats.
Wright did not play for Arizona the last two weeks against Nevada and Northern Arizona, and he was not expected to be back for another week, although the best-case scenario had him possibly being available for this weekend’s Pac-12 opener for Arizona.
