The hits keep on coming for Rutgers; DT Darius Hamilton out for the season

Rutgers just cannot catch a break it seems. Today the Scarlet Knights announced senior defensive tackle Darius Hamilton will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2015 season. An unspecified lower body injury will bring an early end to the team captain’s final year with the program.

Hamilton, an all-Big Ten player in 2014 and team defensive MVP, appeared in last weekend’s road loss at Penn State. It was his first game of the season. The former five-star recruit stood firm with his commitment to Rutgers after Greg Schiano left the program to coach in the NFL, which was good news for new head coach Kyle Flood at the time.

Hamilton’s had 11.5 tackles-for-loss and six sacks last season, and his career ends with 110 total tackles in 39 games with 24.5 tackles-for-loss and 10.5 sacks.

Rutgers is getting set to face Kansas at home this week. Flood is serving the second game of his three-game suspension by the university.
