Dalvin Cook suited up for Florida State tonight, and that’s a very, very good thing for the Seminoles. The sophomore has touched the ball 10 times for 173 yards for two touchdowns to lead No. 12 Florida State to a 20-10 lead over Miami at the half.
Cook opened the scoring by taking an option pitch and racing 72 yards for a touchdown, then added another score on a 36-yard grab from Everett Golson with 5:42 to go in the first quarter. Golson completed 14-of-19 throws for 191 yards and a score.
Roberto Aguayo pushed the lead to 17-3 with a 22-yard field goal early in the second quarter, but Miami re-entered the game with a 58-yard catch-and-dash from Brad Kaaya to Rashawn Scott with 11:05 to go before the break.
Miami gained 178 yards in the first half, 176 on the right arm of Kaaya and only two on the ground.
Aguayo knocked in a 32-yard field goal to push the lead to 10, but clanged a 49-yarder off the right upright as time expired in the first half.
Florida State will receive to open the second half.
