This is certainly an interesting development.
Coming off a gut-punch of a first loss of the year in Week 8 against Georgia Tech, Florida State previously announced that it would be without its leading rusher and offensive bell-cow Dalvin Cook (ankle) for today’s game against Syracuse. There had been rumors swirling throughout the week that a head injury could hamper starting quarterback Everett Golson‘s availability for the game as well.
Just a short time ago, it was confirmed: Golson will be sidelined because of the lingering effects of the concussion.
Maguire was the heir apparent to Jameis Winston prior to Golson transferring in from Notre Dame, serving as the Heisman winner’s primary backup in 2014. This season, McGuire has seen limited action, completing seven of his eight passes for 73 yards and a touchdown.
