Connor Cook not starting at QB for MSU vs. OSU

The biggest development in the huge Michigan State-Ohio State matchup came on the former’s first series, but had been a week in the making.

Connor Cook injured his right (throwing) shoulder during MSU’s win over Maryland last week, but sounded confident throughout the week that he’d be good to go. Shortly before kickoff, it was confirmed that the quarterback would be a game-time decision.

That decision turned out to be to leave Cook on the sidelines as Tyler O’Connor got the start for the Spartans. O’Connor played the entire second half after taking over for an injured Cook last week.

With Michigan’s win over Penn State, an OSU win would set up a Big Ten East title game in Ann Arbor next weekend. An MSU win gives the Spartans total control of the division with one week remaining.
