As if the Holy War didn’t need a little additional juice, Viliseni Fauonuku has gone and spiked the whole damn punch bowl.
One of the most anticipated non-New Year’s Six Bowl games this season is undoubtedly the Las Vegas Bowl, which pits in-state rivals BYU and Utah. Wednesday night, bowl organizers put on a welcome dinner and what was described as a dance-off between the two squads.
At some point during the proceedings, a bowl official handed a microphone to Fauonuku, a Utes defensive lineman who apparently isn’t too fond of his opponent for this Saturday’s game.
For those who couldn’t make it out, Fauonuku said, “BYU, y’all are a good team. But you’re a dirty team. Don’t start nothin’, won’t be nothin’.” Just prior to that, the Salt Lake Tribune noted, Fauonuku had revealed that “[h]onestly, I can’t dance; I throw hands.”
Suffice to say, Fauonuku’s message went over well with his teammates in attendance.
Yeah, given how BYU’s last bowl game ended, this one could get very interesting.
