For the first time in nearly four weeks — a site record, incidentally — the “Days Without An Arrest” ticker needs to be reset back to double zeroes.
Monday afternoon, Iowa confirmed that Omar Truitt was cited by Iowa City law enforcement officials Saturday evening. Specifically, the 19-year-old defensive back was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense.
From the Iowa City Press-Citizen as to what led to Truitt’s off-field predicament:
Truitt, 19, was pulled over for a traffic stop at the intersection of Iowa Avenue and Linn Street at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday when the officer smelled alcohol, according to an Iowa City police complaint.
A breath test showed Truitt had a blood alcohol content of .091, over the legal limit of .08.
It’s expected that Truitt will be forced to serve a one-game suspension at the beginning of the 2016 season.
Truitt was a three-star member of the Hawkeyes’ 2014 recruiting class. After taking a redshirt as a true freshman, Truitt did not record any stats i 2015.
Truitt is not listed on the team’s two-deep spring depth chart.
