WR Josiah Blandin leaving Fresno State as grad transfer

After a bit of a lull in movement, there’s yet another player who has decided to take advantage of what many consider to be an NCAA transfer loophole.

The latest to do as much is Josiah Blandin, who Fresno State announced Tuesday night had decided to leave the Bulldogs football program and transfer elsewhere. As the wide receiver will graduate with a degree in sociology this spring, he would be eligible to play immediately in 2016 at another FBS school if he enrolls in a graduate program not offered at his previous university.

The 2016 season will be Blandin’s final year of eligibility.

“I’d like to thank Josiah for being a hard-working member of our football program this past year and for his efforts to graduate from Fresno State,” a statement from head coach Tim DeRuyter read. “We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

After transferring in from the junior college ranks in the summer of 2015, Blandin tied for the team lead with five receiving touchdowns last season. His 22 receptions and 251 receiving yards were good for fourth.

He started four of the 11 games in which he played in what turned out to be his lone season with the Bulldogs.
