Mississippi State DE Mullins charged for simple assault

Mississippi State redshirt freshman Anfernee Mullins was arrested Friday night and charged for simple assault, although his status with the team remains unchanged at this time.

“Both the Dean of Students office and the Athletics Department are aware of an off-campus incident involving Anfernee Mullins, and are working jointly to learn more about the situation,” a statement from Mississippi State said, per The Clarion-Ledger.

Mullins played defensive end for Mississippi State and has been one of the few to make a transition to a brand new viper position in the Bulldogs’ defense this spring. Other players making tha transition include Will Coleman and Traver Jung.

It was just within the last two weeks Mississippi State saw a five-star signee charged for a violent act. Jeffery Simmons was charged for assault and fighting. Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen has decided to wait for as much information as possible before making any decision regarding the status of Simmons within the football program. It would appear Mullen and the program will do the same with Mullins.
