QB Davis Webb planning visit to Auburn too

It appears former Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb is going to be earning some extra frequent flyer miles this spring. Not only is Webb giving Cal a look as he determines where he will play next, but Auburn also is popping up on the radar now.

It was reported yesterday Webb visited California despite previously committing to Colorado. On Sunday afternoon, Auburn became a new potential destination according to a report from ESPN.com.

Webb is entering his fifth year of eligibility as a graduate transfer, regardless of where he lands. That would make him eligible to play right away this fall. With Auburn coming out of the spring still with an open quarterback competition, Webb could hypothetically step in and win the job upon his arrival. Gus Malzahn was noncommittal on a starting quarterback after the spring game, which was to be expected unless one player clearly outperformed the others.

He would likely win the job at California too if he ends up going there, as Cal is looking to replace NFL-bound Jared Goff.
