Utah State tight end Chris Copier racked up quite the list of charges recently. He has been suspended by the program because of it.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, Copier was charged for six counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, one count for distribution of or arranging to distribute a controlled substance and one more charge for a weapons offense. Copier now faces anywhere between one and 20 years in prison for the various charges, which range from second to third-degree felonies in Utah.
Copier was apparently caught selling drugs to an undercover task force. From the Salt Lake Tribune;The Cache-Rich Drug Task Force made multiple controlled buys from Copier, Logan Police Capt. Tyson Budge said. On Friday afternoon, they stopped him in a vehicle and allegedly found a quarter-pound of marijuana and 46 ecstasy pills inside.
When police searched his home in northwest Logan, officers also found a handgun, about $1,600 in cash, and more drugs, including marijuana, mushrooms, and Xanex, Budge said. The Xanex was “all packaged up for sale,” Budge added.
Copier was arrested on Friday and he been released on $55,000 bond.
