Syracuse, MTSU announce 2017 game at Carrier Dome

The mini-rush of scheduling agreements continues, with an ACC school and one from Conference USA the latest to agree to a gridiron hookup.

Both Syracuse and Middle Tennessee State announced in tandem press releases that the two football programs have reached an agreement on a one-off game in the not-too-distant future. Specifically, the game is set for Sept. 9, 2017, and will be played in the Carrier Dome.

This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two squads. It will also serve as the first game the Orange has played against a current member of Conference USA.

In addition to MTSU, Syracuse has 2017 games scheduled at home against Central Michigan (Sept. 16) and at LSU (Sept. 23). The Orange still have one hole to fill on that year’s non-conference schedule.

For the Blue Raiders, that year non-conference slate is now complete. MT will open the 2017 season at home against Vanderbilt Sept. 2, then go on the road to take on Minnesota on Sept. 16 before returning home to play host to Bowling Green on Sept. 23.
