Arkansas QB Rafe Peavey undergoes ‘minor’ back surgery, should be healthy for start of camp

If Rafe Peavey is to make any headway in Arkansas’s quarterback competition, he’ll have to overcome a little injury hiccup to do it.

UA announced Thursday that the redshirt sophomore sustained a back injury during summer workouts recently. As a result, Peavey underwent what was described as “minor surgery” Wednesday.

It’s expected that Peavey will be ready when the Razorbacks commence summer camp Aug. 4.

"[Peavey] is on the path to recovery so he can return to the field for fall camp,” a portion of a statement from head coach Bret Bielema said. “I’m confident Rafe will make a full recovery and will build on his strong spring during fall camp.”

Peavey took a redshirt as a true freshman in 2014, then didn’t see the field in 2015. He’s expected to be the No. 2 quarterback behind projected starter Austin Allen.
