It appears we can put to bed the latest faux controversy involving a high-profile college football player.
Courtesy of TMZ.com, a video that shows LSU running back Leonard Fournette getting very physical with a teammate went viral. The gossip website described it as “a shocking street fight with one of his teammates,” while a school spokesperson called it horseplay, “a game they play from time to time called ‘Tap Out.’”
Fournette was scheduled to meet with the media Wednesday evening but didn’t. The junior did, though, take to Twitter to apologize for the uproar the video caused even as he and the teammate, offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield, were merely “slap boxing.”I would like to apologize to everyone, but we were not fighting, just slap boxing but again I would like to apologize to everyone again

First nationally in rushing yards per game last year, Fournette is seen by many as the Heisman Trophy favorite entering 2016. Fournette, who’s reportedly covered by a pair of $10 million insurance policies, is widely expected to leave Baton Rouge following the upcoming season and making himself available for the 2017 NFL draft.
