QB AJ Bush tweets decision to transfer from Nebraska

This season, AJ Bush would’ve found himself behind, at least, starter Tommy Armstrong and backup Ryker Fyfe, both seniors, on the Nebraska quarterback depth chart. Next season, Bush would’ve found himself in a crowded quarterback room that would include Tulane transfer Tanner Lee (two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2017) as well as a pair of four-star California recruits — 2016 signee Patrick O’Brien and 2017 commit Tristan Gebbia.

In the end, Bush decided it’s best to look elsewhere for playing time.

On his personal Twitter account Thursday, Bush indicated that he will be transferring from the Cornhuskers football program. In his brief missive, Bush gave no official reason for his decision to move on from Lincoln.

Special Shout out to my husker teammates. and everyone that has been apart of my experience here. Loved every minute of it. #GBR ✊🏾

The 6-4, 225-pound Bush was a three-star 2014 recruit, rated as the No. 44 dual-threat quarterback in the country coming out of high school in Georgia. He also held offers from, among others, Boston College, Cincinnati and Kansas State.

After taking a redshirt his true freshman season, Bush didn’t see the field in 2015.
