George Brown’s transfer from LSU to Miami made official

A week after leaving an SEC school, George Brown has landed in the ACC.

Following up on the speculation that’s been growing in recent days, Miami has confirmed that Brown is enrolled in classes at the university and will begin practicing with his new teammates immediately. While he’s permitted to practice with his new team, Brown will be forced to sit out the 2016 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. Beginning in 2017, he’ll have three years of eligibility remaining.

In addition to The U, Brown also considered Michigan State, Penn State and UCLA.

Earlier this month, Brown opted to transfer from LSU. Brown’s father, George Brown Sr., said at the time his son “didn’t feel [LSU] was the place for him.”

“He felt better to go with another staff and go play somewhere else. He’s not mad at LSU,” the dad was quoted as saying. “LSU is a great school, great place to be. We love LSU. I’m not the one playing. My son decided he wanted to be somewhere else. He didn’t feel that was the place for him. We don’t have an issue. We love coach Miles and all of the staff there. He just decided that he would take his talents other places.”

Brown was a three-star 2015 recruit and was the No. 24 player at any position in the state of Ohio according to 247sports.com. Rivals.com had the Cincinnati high school product as a four-star recruit.

As a true a true freshman, Brown didn’t see the field and took a redshirt.
