Serious knee injury a season-ender for Michigan LT Grant Newsome

Michigan’s offensive line took a pretty serious blow on Saturday with the loss of left tackle Grant Newsome. A knee injury cut his afternoon against Wisconsin short, and now it has been confirmed the injury will bring an end to the 2016 season for Newsome as well.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh announced today Newsome suffered a serious knee injury that will cost him the remainder of the regular season. The right knee injury occurred in the first half against Wisconsin and Harbaugh was reportedly pessimistic about Newsome’s outlook immediately following the game. On Monday, Harbaugh updated the situation by saying Newsome may require surgery.

“It’s going to be a tough couple of weeks for him,” Harbaugh said. “It’s a reminder just how tough the game of football is. What I do know is this, as far as human being character, football character, nobody’s ever come through here with more of it than Grant Newsome. His parents should write a book on raising kids.”

Newsome’s roommate, Jon Runyan Jr. shared his best wishes on Twitter...

Redshirt sophomore Juwann Bushell-Beatty is set to fill in for the injured Newsome.
