Florida QB Luke Del Rio expected to start this week vs. Missouri

After getting an unexpected extra week of rest, Florida quarterback Luke Del Rio will be slated to start for the Gators this week when they face Missouri.

Del Rio was forced to miss some playing time after hurting his knee in a game against North Texas. The injury was not expected to keep him out for much longer than a few weeks. Del Rio was expected to return to action this past weekend against LSU, but the game was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew approaching the Florida coast. Austin Appleby had been starting for the Gators in Del Rio’s absence.

‘We were prepared to play him (last) week,” Florida head coach Jim McElwain said on Monday. “We’ll play him again, obviously, moving forward as we go.’'

Del Rio has passed for 762 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions in his three starts this season.
