Auburn, Ole Miss locked in a shootout through one half

In a good old-fashioned shootout, Ole Miss leads No. 15 Auburn 22-20 at the half in Oxford.

Neither team has punted, and neither team has forced a turnover.

Ole Miss led after one, but Auburn grabbed leads of 17-16 and 20-19 before Gary Wunderlich booted a 26-yard field goal with five seconds before the break to push the see-saw back in the Rebels’ favor. In the only major defensive play of the half -- and one that could have ramifications later on -- Auburn blocked Wunderlich’s first point-after try following the game’s first touchdown.

Continuing a theme for both units, Auburn’s running game has run roughshod over Ole Miss’s rush defense. Kamryn Pettway has rushed 14 times for 148 yards and a 41-yard touchdown. As a team, Auburn has carried the ball 25 times for 187 yards and two scores, while Sean White has connected on 6-of-9 passes for 85 yards.

Chad Kelly has carried the load for Ole Miss, completing 22-of-35 passes for 297 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing six times for four yards. A trio of Rebels ballcarriers has combined to rush the ball 12 times for 50 yards.

Auburn will receive to open the second half.
