Penn State’s Brendan Mahon hospitalized, listed in stable condition

An unsettling yet murky situation involving the health of a Penn State football player is unfolding in Happy Valley.

First reported by the Centre Daily Times, Penn State confirmed Tuesday night that Brendan Mahon (pictured, No. 70) was hospitalized earlier in the day. The school stated that Mahon is currently listed in stable condition.

There are no details as to what led to the offensive lineman’s hospitalization.

Mahon left in the first quarter of PSU’s game this past Saturday with an unspecified injury and did not return. It’s unclear if the hospitalization is related to the injury he sustained in the win.

Last season, Mahon started 11 games for the Nittany Lions, with the majority of those starts coming at left guard. In 2016, Mahon had started the first nine games of the season. He began the season as the starting left tackle before moving to right tackle.
