Fast start for No. 18 Florida State results in halftime lead over Boston College

It’s been rare for one to say that Florida State got off to a fast start in a college football game this season but that’s exactly what the Seminoles did on Friday night, jumping out to a 21-0 lead over Boston College heading into halftime.

FSU quarterback Deondre Francois came out firing darts right from the get-go, leading to two quick touchdown drives as the Eagles’ defense did their best to force him to put the ball in the air. Tailback Dalvin Cook, looking to become the school’s all-time leading rusher this week, was contained fairly well by one of the nation’s stingiest run defenses but did score a touchdown late in the second quarter.

The Seminoles defense was pretty limiting as well, forcing several three-and-outs while making life miserable for Boston College quarterback Patrick Towles. Myles Willis did break off a 39 yard run in the first quarter but that was otherwise the only highlight for the offense.

While the margin probably isn’t as comfortable as Jimbo Fisher would like going into the locker room, it does allow for some intrigue in the second half for the only college football game going on Veteran’s Day. FSU isn’t playing for much more than a better bowl game but Boston College will certainly be looking to double their ACC win total this year and get that much closer to the post season.
