Miami, A&M reportedly close to finalizing future home-and-home

Miami has already reached agreements to open the 2018 and 2019 seasons at neutral sites against LSU and Florida, respectively. Now, an agreement with yet another SCE school appears to be in the offing for The U.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, “UM is finalizing a deal to play a home-and-home football series with Texas A&M in 2022 and 2023.” Specific dates and locations of what would presumably be a home-and-home series weren’t detailed by the Herald.

The two football programs have met three times previously, the first coming in 1944 and the last in 2008. The Aggies have won the last two meetings after the Hurricanes won the first 70-14, a game that was played on the day after the third anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

If the A&M series comes to fruition, it would give UM at least one non-conference game against a Power Five opponent in each of the next nine seasons. In addition to the four games against SEC schools, The U has matchups scheduled with Notre Dame (2017, 2024, 2025), Rutgers (2019) and Michigan State (2020, 2021).

As of now, A&M has future home-and-homes scheduled with Clemson (2018, 2019), Colorado (2020, 2021) and Notre Dame (2024, 2025). In 2017, they’ll complete a home-and-home with UCLA that kicked off this season.
