Dalvin Cook now Florida State’s all-time leading rusher

Dalvin Cook carried the ball 28 times for Florida State on Saturday, but it was his second tote of the day that was the most important. That carry, a 41-yard burst in the first quarter of the ‘Noles eventual 45-14 win over Syracuse, put the Miami native atop Florida State’s all-time rushing list.

Cook finished the day rushing 28 times for 225 yards and four touchdowns, putting him at 4,166 career rushing yards. That bests the mark held by Warrick Dunn, who left Tallahassee with 3,959 yards.

Cook has accumulated 1,467 yards on the season with two games to play, meaning he should top his personal high of 1,691 rushing yards, posted last season.

Just a junior, Cook has an excellent shot at topping the 6,000-yard mark should he so desire. However, it would be considered an upset for him to return to Florida State in 2017.

Should he return, though, another typical season would put him in rarified air in college football history. Only six players have topped the 6,000-yard mark at the FBS level.
