Oklahoma is in the process of re-making its defense thanks to a slew of coaching hires headlined by new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch. The Sooners will change their schemes and bringing in better players, but Stage 1 of that revamping has to begin with keeping the talented defenders already in crimson and cream.
Stage 1 apparently hit a bump on Saturday, when defensive end Ron Tatum informed those around him he intends to transfer, according to SoonerScoop.
A 4-star recruit in the class of 2018, Tatum originally committed to Texas but later became the first commit of the Lincoln Riley era. “I felt way better when I committed, like a weight lifted off the top of my shoulders,” Tatum told The Oklahoman in 2017.
Tatum redshirted in 2018 and, if he couldn’t get on the field for that Oklahoma defense, one has to wonder how talented Tatum really was in the first place.
