Ex-Virginia wide receiver Jamil Kamara announced Tuesday that he would be continue his playing career at Cincinnati.  Two days later, it appears the Bearcats have picked up yet another former Power Five receiver.

As first reported by Tim Adams of 247Sports.com, Avery Peterson has decided to transfer into Tommy Tuberville‘s UC football program.  ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad subsequently confirmed the move, with Peterson telling Schad that “his relationship with Eddie Gran on the Cincinnati staff was key to his decision.”

Gran has served as the Bearcats’ offensive coordinator and running backs coach since 2013.

Peterson, whose brother is former Tiger and current Arizona Cardinals standout Patrick Peterson, announced on Facebook two weeks ago that he would be transferring from LSU. In his run-on social media missive, the receiver said he decided to move on from Baton Rouge “[a]fter so much thought and prayers and after talking to the people who I really trust” and that while “it really breaks my heart… at the end of the day I have to do [what’s] best for me and my future.”

Peterson was a three-star member of LSU’s 2013 recruiting class and was thought to have the ability to compete for playing time immediately before the early enrollee sustained what turned out to be a season-ending injury his true freshman season. In 2014, he played in just one game.

As will be the case with Kamara, Peterson will have to sit out the 2015 season.  Beginning in 2016, he would then have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
