Syracuse won’t have a (part-time) starter on offense as it looks to become bowl-eligible Saturday.
Tight end Beckett Wales, the school announced, will undergo season-ending surgery for what was described as an upper-body injury. Wales suffered the injury in the one-point loss to Pittsburgh this past Saturday.
This season, the senior has 10 receptions for 78 yards. He finishes his Orange career fourth in school history among tight ends in receptions (52) and seventh in receiving yards (523).
Wales started five games this season, and was listed as the starter on the most recent depth chart released ahead of the regular-season finale against Boston College.
