UPDATE: Will Nebraska DT Aaron Curry transfer to Oklahoma?

Sometimes the rivalry still resonates between Nebraska and Oklahoma, so news of a transfer from the Huskers to the Sooners may raise an eyebrow from old-time fans of either school. According to multiple reports, Nebraska defensive tackle Aaron Curry will transfer to Oklahoma, where his father played basketball.

Husker Online reported Sunday Curry’s transfer was in the works and a release from his scholarship at Nebraska could come as early as today (Monday). Curry played in all 13 games for the Huskers in 2013, starting in eight of them, but he had fallen down the depth chart leading up to the start of the 2014 season. Sophomores Vincent Valentine and Maliek Collins have been performing well in camp and making cases for considerable role son the defensive line in Lincoln this fall.

Curry will be required to sit out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but as noted by Husker Online, he can use his redshirt season this fall in order to preserve two years of eligibility starting in 2015

UPDATE (4:05 p.m.): Defensive lineman Aaron Curry decided to hold his horses when it came to Boomer Sooner. Curry hasn’t decided to transfer to Oklahoma. His exact destination has yet to be determined, but a transfer to the Big 12 Conference still seems likely.

During the recruiting process, Curry held scholarship offers from the Arizona Wildcats, Boston College Eagles, Indiana Hoosiers, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Missouri Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels. Although, TCU may have the edge, because the school is only a 30-minute drive from his home in Keller, Texas.
