On Tuesday, ESPN.com reported that wide receiver Duron Carter and defensive lineman Rob Rose would be ineligible for Ohio State’s Rose Bowl meeting with Oregon.
At least for now, only Carter -- son of of former Buckeye and NFL great Cris Carter -- has officially been ruled out of the game.
According to a press release issued by the school, the freshman receiver “will not be involved” in the bowl game, although no reason was specified in the release. However, it’s believed Carter’s eligibility issue relates to academics.
As far as Rose is concerned, there has been no official word from the Buckeyes on his status.
