Just as rumors are heating up once again that one Haden brother is heading to Florida — or is already there — another has decided to take his leave of the Gators.
In a series of text messages to the Miami Herald, the father of true freshman defensive back Jordan Haden confirmed that his son is indeed transferring from UF.
Joe Haden Sr., who said his family and the university will continue working on a release from Jordan Haden’s scholarship Monday, told the Herald there is no animosity as his son heads out of Gainesville.
“No hard feelings,” the father texted. “Florida is a great program and we love them. It just wasn’t the best fit for Jordan.”
There was no indication as to where Jordan Haden may be transferring.
In other Haden/UF news, running back Josh Haden abruptly announced last October that he was transferring from Boston College and, depending on the report, is either already at Florida or is very close to joining the Gators. Both Jordan and Josh are the brothers of Joe Haden, the former UF defensive back who was a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in this past April’s draft.
UPDATED 12:22 p.m. ET: Florida has given Haden an unconditional release from his scholarship. He is now free to sign with any school — including SEC schools — and player after sitting out the 2010 season.
Jordan Haden HAS been released from his UF scholarship.
Haden was 4th on the depth chart and felt he could get more playing time somewhere else.
Kind of makes you wonder about the Haden family and how they make decisions and prioritize. One out of three transferring, okay, two out of three transferring? Something is either wrong on the front end or the back end. Hope it isn’t a father who is more agent than parent.
Have to laugh at Josh Haden the guy gets a huge BC tattoo on his chest and then transfers.
Unfortunately I think this is a case where 2 younger brothers saw the oldest one get playing time right away and expect that to happen to them.
As good as Joe Haden is, it was more a case where Florida had no one to play after losing 9 starters from a NC team and very little depth.
The two younger ones need to be patient and bide their time!
