Hokies will be Williams-less again this weekend

For the second straight week, Virginia Tech will be without the nation’s fifth-leading rusher in 2009 due to a lingering leg injury.

As is their practice, the Hokies released their official injury report earlier Thursday and, as has been his practice, running back Ryan Williams was listed as “out” with a hamstring issue.

Williams initially suffered the injury in the first half of a Sept. 18 win over East Carolina, which then kept the sophomore out of the shutout of Boston College last week.

Darren Evans got the start for the Hokies in place of Williams against the Eagles, but David Wilson led the team with 67 yards on 16 carries; Evans had just 30 yards on 14 carries, although he did score the Hokies’ lone touchdown.
