Bronco to shakeup entire BYU offensive staff

BYU systematically decimated and destroyed overwhelmed UTEP with 52 points in a blowout win in the New Mexico Bowl last week.

So, naturally, the offensive staff was rewarded three days later with pink slips all around. Kind of.

According to the Deseret News, head coach Bronco Mendenhall has told his entire offensive coaching staff, the paper writes, to seek other employment while he conducts individual staff evaluations in the coming days to see which assistant coaches he will retain. The News report that the assistants were informed of Mendenhall’s intentions Monday morning.

The school has yet to comment on the report.

Served their notice today were offensive coordinator Robert Anae; assistant head coach and running backs coach Lance Reynolds; offensive line coach Mark Weber; wide receivers coach Patrick Higgins; and quarterback coach Brandon Doman.

On the plus side for the quintet of assistants, they’ve been invited to reapply for the jobs they’ve ostensibly been fired from.

This is the not the first major shakeup Mendenhall’s made to his staff this year; in early October, defensive coordinator Jaime Hill was fired and replaced by a person very familiar to the head coach -- himself.
