‘Canes among handful of schools Forcier’s considering

Move over, Tom Savage; you may have some transfer competition.

Speaking to ESPN‘s Joe Schad, former Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier said that he is considering several schools at both the Div. 1-A (FBS) and Div. 1-AA (FCS) levels. Included in the former category are schools such as Miami -- where Savage, the ex-Rutgers QB, is believed to have an interest -- Washington, San Diego State, Baylor, New Mexico and Middle Tennessee State.

Based on the interest he’s already drawn, Forcier could commence visits as early as this weekend.

“I’m really just looking for the best situation and the best opportunity,” Forcier told Schad. “I have a few schools at all levels that I’m interested in. I’m going to set up all my visits as early as possible because all the schools are already wanting me to come visit starting this weekend.”

Forcier’s interest in 1-AA schools calls into question a report from Monday. That report, citing an unnamed Montana athletic department official, stated that the Grizzlies were likely out of the running for Forcier’s services and that the sophomore would likely wind up at a 1-A school.

In addition to Montana, Forcier also told Schad that 1-AA programs such as South Carolina State and Florida A&M.
