Forcier taking his talents to Miami

Nearly three weeks to the day he announced -- via Twitter -- that he was leaving Michigan, Tate Forcier has found a new collegiate football home.

First reported by Jorge Milian of the Palm Beach Post and later confirmed by ESPN.com‘s Joe Schad, Forcier has decided to take his talents to the Miami Hurricanes.

“I really want to be a part of the rebirth at Miami,” the quarterback told Schad. “There is so much positive energy around this program and I really want to be apart of it. I love these coaches an feel like they are the right guys for me. I had a great visit and I really want to be a part of the rebirth at Miami.”

The ‘Canes were among a handful of schools initially thought to be a potential destination. It was reported over the weekend that Forcier would begin taking visits this week, with Miami likely being one of the first. It was, and now it will be his last.

Forcier, who started every game as a true freshman with the Wolverines in 2009 before losing his job to Denard Robinson last season, will be forced to sit out the 2011 season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility starting in 2012.

UPDATED 4:46 p.m. ET: The school confirmed in a press release that “Forcier has signed an Aid Agreement and will transfer to the University of Miami.”
