Oklahoma State loses safety for spring

It’s spring, and that means practice, suspensions, arrests, (or, profiling mishaps) and injuries.

Not immune to the last alternative is Oklahoma State senior safety Markelle Martin. The Oklahoman reports, by way of head coach Mike Gundy, that Martin had surgery on his left shoulder last week and will miss all of spring practice.

“We cleaned his shoulder up,” Gundy said. “He really didn’t need the surgery right now but there was no reason (to put it off), because we have a lot of depth at safety.”

Specifics of the injury were not given.

Martin is still expected to participate in preseason practice and could continue to make an impact on the field next fall.
